Fucked Up have announced an ambitious 10-part finale to their long-running Chinese Zodiac series.
The Toronto hardcore band kicked off the 20-year run of records back in 2006 with 'Year Of The Dog', with the most recent instalment being 2021's 'Year Of The Horse'.
The final entry of the series will come as a collection titled 'Grass Can Move Stones', covering 10 sides of vinyl made up of three releases, 'Year Of The Goat', 'Year Of The Monkey' and 'Year Of The Rooster'. These records will be released in instalments over the next year. The band explained:
"We are excited to announce 'Grass Can Move Stones', the ten part finale to our twenty-year Zodiac album cycle. Join us over the next year as we release the Year Of The Goat LP, the Year Of The Monkey 2xLP, and the Year Of The Rooster 2xLP in installments, one story spread over almost five hours of music, that dives back into the characters, narratives, and music from all our previous Zodiac records, told by dozens of characters and special guests. Sides will be released (almost) monthly on Bandcamp, leading up to the finale side in October 2026, the twenty-year anniversary of the first zodiac album, Year Of The Dog. Vinyl will hit stores through this year, so stay tuned."
Side A of 'Year Of The Goat' is currently streaming on Fucked Up's Bandcamp page, with Side B following on December 5. The vinyl LP will be released via Tankcrimes on December 12. They'll then drop 'Year Of The Monkey' next spring, followed by 'Year Of The Rooster' in the autumn.
Ahead of the release of 'Year Of The Goat', Fucked Up have shared Long Ago Gardens, as well as a teaser video for the album.
Last year, the band released two studio albums, 'Another Day' and 'Someday'. Earlier this year, they shared the one-off single Disabuse.
