Violet Grohl, the eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, has released her debut original solo tracks.
Thum, and its accompanying b-side Applefish, are available for download via Bandcamp and serve up a fuzzy, alt-rock sound that recall bands such as Hole, Queens Of The Stone Age and The Breeders. Sharing the tracks on social media, Grohl wrote:
"I'm beyond excited to finally share a little bit of what i’ve been working on over the last year. I made these tracks with the most badass group of musicians, so happy they’re finally yours."
The 19-year-old singer has previously contributed backing vocals to Foo Fighters albums 'Medicine At Midnight' and 'But Here We Are', and performed at tribute concerts for the late drummer Taylor Hawkins. In 2021, she and her dad released a cover of X's Nausea.
Foo Fighters, meanwhile, will return to Europe and the UK next summer with their Take Cover Tour, with the run including two UK shows at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium on June 25 and 27. The North American leg will follow in August and September, featuring support from Queens of the Stone Age. Tickets are on sale now.
Foo Fighters put out their latest studio album, 'But Here We Are', in 2023. In October, they dropped the live EP 'Are Playing Where ??? Vol. 1' exclusively on Bandcamp and released a new single, Asking For A Friend.
