Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson has spoken for the first time about his hit and run ordeal.

The singer was knocked over by a car in his hometown of Leeds last Sunday, which left the star with minor injuries and bruising.

Wilson hopes that a postive effect of the incident will help him score the sympathy vote from his female fans.

He said: "I'm still single and I was hoping for a bit more female attention since I've been on crutches."

Ricky also feels lucky that he didn't sustain more serious injuries.

He added: "I feel like the luckiest man in the world. I've only broken my toe and the fingers on my right hand but I had a real shock.

"I was lying shaken on the ground, but managed to call an ambulance. I was trying to be very manly about it and pretend there was no problem but I was pretty dazed. I can't talk too much about it because there is a police investigation."
