Future Islands will celebrate their 20th anniversary with the release of a new compilation album.

Titled 'From a Hole In The Floor To a Fountain Of Youth', the collection will arrive through 4AD on May 22 and brings together new songs, alternate hits, fan favourites and rarities from the North Carolina band's beginnings in 2006 to their 2024 seventh album, 'People Who Aren't There Anymore', some of which have never before appeared on streaming services.

Future Islands bassist William Cashion, who first gathered the songs into a playlist and selected the title for the release, said: "I’ve always loved the imagery of that lyric. The hole in the floor is the everyday, but the fountain is the magic that happens when the life you dreamed about actually becomes the one you’re living. It’s the dream and the reality existing in the same room.

"This is for everyone who has carried these songs with them, from the first house parties to the rooms we’re playing today."

Alongside the announcement, the band have shared two songs from the album, Sail and Find Love, both of which serve up their signature shimmering synth-driven sound.

Future Islands will celebrate 'From a Hole In The Floor To a Fountain Of Youth' with a series of shows in North Carolina and Baltimore, with further details to be revealed soon.
