The winners for The 71st Ivor Novello Awards were revealed yesterday in London.
At the Grosvenor House ceremony, CMAT (pictured) was awarded Best Album for 2025's 'Euro-Country', Best Contemporary Song went to I Stand On The Line by Kae Tempest (who co-wrote it with Fraser T Smith), and Best Song Musically and Lyrically was given to Jacb Alon for Don't Fall Asleep. The latter also received the Rising Star Award.
Rosalía took home International Songwriter of the Year, while Lily Allen received the award for Outstanding Song Collection and Sam Fender was named Songwriter Of The Year with Amazon Music.
The Academy Fellowship was awarded to Radiohead's Thom Yorke and posthumously to George Michael, with Calvin Harris receiving the PRS for Music Icon Award, Linda Perry taking the Special International Award with Amazon Music and Kano the Visionary Award with Amazon Music.
Elton John was presented with an Ivors Academy Honour for his outstanding work championing songwriters, composers and creativity across the music industry, an accolade usually reserved for The Ivors Academy Honours ceremony, which this year takes place in October. However, as The Ivors Academy also announced at the event that John would be becoming its first-ever President, the timing seemed right.
Roberto Neri, CEO of The Ivors Academy, said: “Congratulations to all our Ivor Novello Award winners. On a special night, it was a privilege to celebrate such an extraordinary range of music with the most prestigious recognition in music. The Ivors Academy exists to protect, empower and celebrate songwriters and composers, and whatever we face, tonight stands as a reminder that the future of music is in remarkable hands.”
Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy, added: “Every nomination and award tonight is an act of attribution. A public, named, witnessed declaration that these astonishing human beings made these noteworthy, gorgeous, brilliant songs. That it came from somewhere and belongs to someone. They can be identified, credited, paid and celebrated. My heartfelt congratulations to all our winners.”
