Gilla Band have returned with their first new music in almost four years.

Serving up the Dublin quartet's distinctive sound with abrasive guitars and industrial elements before shifting into an urgent, beat-driven breakdown halfway through, Giraffe arrives with a surreal video from Cuan Roche and Chanthila Phaophanit. The song is available via Rough Trade as a limited 7" picture disc. Vocalist Dara Kiely said:

"In this track, the first few sections represent what my general headspace is like. It can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to articulate what I’m actually thinking.

"The outro on the other hand indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection towards me does exist. While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe. 'She chased me out the door with a hairbrush demanding that I would wear a suitable jacket.' It’s a very Irish Mammy action. That amount of love is difficult for me to accept but it is a beautiful thing to have in life."

The band, completed by guitarist Alan Duggan Borges, bassist Daniel Fox and drummer Adam Faulkner, will tour North America, Europe and the UK between October 2026 and February 2027, with the latter leg including stops in Bristol, London, Manchester and Glasgow. Tickets for the UK run go on general sale at 10am on Friday (May 29).

Gilla Band released their most recent album, 'Most Normal', in 2022, which was followed by the one-off single Sports Day in 2023.
