Bodega have announced their fourth album.
The New York City art-punk four-piece will release 'All Inside Aquarium' through Chrysalis Records on October 9, following 2024's 'Our Brand Could Be Yr Life' and its deluxe edition, 'Brand On The Run'.
The album was recorded over a month and a half at The Nave in Leeds, the studio of producer Matt Peel, whose previous credits include Yard Act and Eagulls. The Nave is housed in a converted church, which also appears in the album artwork (below). Commenting on the record's shift away from the post-punk sound of their previous albums, singer-guitarist Ben Hozie said:
“I never thought of us as a post-punk band. I just thought of us as a conceptual rock band. Post-punk is conceptual punk, so that lent itself to our thing early on, but at the end of the day, it’s about our songwriting."
Citing The Stone Roses and Jane’s Addiction as inspirations, he continued: "Let’s go back to melodic tunes, let’s be more of a proper rock band. We were aiming at something larger, warmer, watery, and metaphysical, inspired by the optimistic alt rock of our half-remembered youth."
Alongside the news, the band have shared the record's melodic title track and its accompanying video created by percussionist and co-vocalist Nikki Belfiglio. Hozie explained: "This track is an attempt at an existential anthem. Pain (after it subsides) can bring you closer to a beatific perspective where dichotomy disappears and curious creativity calmly trickles out like the faucet tube in the tub."
The band's earlier single, Pick Up The Check, which dropped last month, also appears on the album.
They'll preview the album with New York shows tonight (June 23), on July 8 and August 19, followed by European and UK shows later in the year, including a sold-out date at London's 100 Club on September 15 and additional UK shows in November. Head here for details. Tickets are on sale now.
Since their last album, Bodega also released 'Rot In Helvetica' in 2025 under their alter-ego name, Nodega.
