Django Django have shared a video for their new single, Cameos.

Released last month, the strings-laden track marks the first preview of the Mercury Prize-nominated London band's sixth album and their first for the label Clouds Hill, 'Doveland', due out on November 6. Commenting on the song's themes of grief, loneliness, memories and the temporary connections we make with others, bassist and songwriter Jim Dixon said:

"Like much of the album, the lyrics are more personal and focus on moving through grief and recognising that some important people are only part of your story for a short time."

The lo-fi style video was filmed in Margate and Deal on VHS, 35mm film and an iPhone, with stop-motion sections created by printing and scanning each frame.

Produced by former Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy and composer Pollyester, the follow-up to 2023's 'Off Planet' also also features contributions from Max Pope and Hak Baker. The band said: "In early 2024 we started discussing an idea for a new album, moved to a new label, did a lot of writing in the Scottish Highlands and Mexico, recorded in the German countryside and toured with Africa Express throughout Latin America and Europe."

They continued: "Doveland came from a story Dave [Maclean - drummer] found online which described an urban myth about a town that no one was sure actually existed, but people remembered being there. It sparked an idea for making a soundtrack and a movie. In the end we didn’t make the movie which wasn’t the important bit (maybe some day….) but the idea gave us inspiration for the type of record and songs we wanted to make. Importantly we wanted to strip everything back and go back to basics."

The art-rockers currently have two live dates scheduled, an appearance at Color Festival in Italy on August 13 and a date supporting Scissor Sisters at Queens Park Recreation Ground in Glasgow on August 30. Tickets are on sale now.

Last year, they released the standalone single Temple Dogs for the multi-artist release, 'Sun God Fraud Squad', which accompanied the 2025 Ring Of Truth exhibition at Edinburgh's Blackie House Museum.
