BRAT Announce Second Album 'Manslayer' With New Single Manslayer (Hell Hath No Fury)

BRAT have outlined plans for their second studio album.
The Louisiana deathgrind band will release 'Manslayer' through Prosthetic Records on September 25, following their 2024 debut 'Social Grace'. It was recorded at Chicago's Bricktop Recording, with Weekend Nachos' Andy Nelson handling production, engineering and mixing, and mastering by Brad Boatright, known for his work with Deadguy, Pig Destroyer and Lathe of Heaven.
Despite the band's extreme sound, the album was inspired by country revenge songs, with vocalist Liz Selfish drawing from tracks about women reclaiming their power, like Earl by The Chicks, Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood, and Gunpowder & Lead by Miranda Lambert. Selfish explained:
"There’s not a lot of those tropes in death metal, which I think primarily is because there’s not a lot of women in that space. I thought that was a really cool perspective and I really liked the storytelling aspect of it."
Alongside the announcement of the record, the four-piece have shared its first single, Manslayer (Hell Hath No Fury), which deals in their brutal fusion of grindcore and death metal with crushing blastbeats and breakdowns. Head below to view the song's video, directed by John Colgan.
BRAT will appear at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky on September 17, alongside Pantera, Danzig, Mastodon, and more, and Chicago's Riot Fest on September 18, which has a line-up led by Iggy Pop, Pixies and Sex Pistols. They also have US dates supporting GWAR and European shows with Napalm Death lined up.
Selfish added: "We’re evolving the bimboviolence and the campiness by making it all a little bit darker with this album, and a bit more overtly violent. I think that will probably reflect in our stage show and our imagery as well, keeping it fun, not a total 180, but definitely progressing into something darker with it."
