Mogwai Blast England's Arrogant World Cup Hopes

Tuesday, 20 June 2006 Written by Stereoboard.com
ImageMogwai have lambasted England's chances of progressing in this summers World Cup Finals tournament.

The Scottish rock band made the amazing outburst on their official website having watched the first half of the dour Trinidad & Tobago game last Thursday, which England went on to win 2-0 despite an average team performance.

The band wrote: "It's happened for 40 years and has no sign of fading. I'm talking about the foolish English optimism/arrogance that attends every World Cup and after watching the first half between Trinidad and Tobago and England, they have a Kit Kat's chance in Hell of winning the tournament.

"You'd think they deserved to win the cup the way the English media blabbers on and its plain embarrassing to watch, and not a little infuriating. Jingoism is nothing to be proud of (ironically) but it rears its ugly head every four years.

"England are shite. Get over yourselves and start supporting Brazil or Argentina. That way you won't be disappointed at the final."

England's World Cup chances - No hope in hell or do England have a good team to go all the way to lift the trophy? What are your thoughts? Let us know below.
