Beardy alternative-country-rock band Midlake will play two UK shows in June this year.
The Texans will play two dates in the summer, one show at the O2 Academy in Liverpool on June 28th and then another show two days later at Portsmouth Pyramids on June 30th.
Formed in 1999 after meeting at the University of North Texas. The band originally started out influenced by jazz and funk, but having gone through a few changes in band members, they began to focus on music similar to that of early Radiohead and Grandaddy before beginning to dabble in lo-fi and electronica and seventies vintage pop. The band maybe as diverse as their influences but their southern charm and imagination always shines through.
Not known for showbiz smoke and mirrors. It’s the hearfelt honesty and exceptional harmonies of their music throughout their albums that have won them a devoted following.
Earlier this year in February the band released their third album ‘The Courage Of Others’. The record gained generally good reviews, notably being claimed “album of the month” by Mojo magazine.
The band also toured the UK in January in support of the new album and it seems that they just cant seem to stop adding yet more tasty dates to the gigging plate, so to speak. Catch them again this summer.
Midlake will play the following UK dates:
June 2010
28th O2 Academy, Liverpool
30th Portsmouth Pyramids
