Dirty John is a true crime podcast created by Christopher Goffard, a veteran reporter at the Los Angeles Times hailed as “the reigning king of serialized journalism.” He shared in the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service and has twice been a Pulitzer finalist for feature writing.

The podcast is a six-part series about seduction, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival. The story follows Debra Newell, a successful interior designer in Southern California, who meets a man named John Meehan on an over-50 dating site and quickly marries him. But John harbors dark secrets and an obsession with vengeance and control, as she and her family discover to their horror.

With more than 10 million downloads and a month atop the iTunes charts, Dirty John is one of the biggest podcast successes of 2017 and was produced in partnership between the Los Angeles Times and Wondery.


Now, Dirty John is set to tour a series of live shows across the UK next Spring.
