Where we discovered the Dropkick Murphys
Sligo on November 30 -0001
Ok I can't write about attending a Dropkick Murphy's concert but I can write about the first time I ever heard a song by the Dropkick Murphy's called Shipping up to Boston. A spa weekend turned one of the best nights crack me and my mates ever had. Picture the scene - me and the girls having a right ole time dancing and chatting to a lovely bunch of bikers who could not dance for love nor money - AC/DC came on and the bikers started giving it all with the head banging.
That was just the start of it - after Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy we thought it couldn't get any better but we were wrong - a song called Shipping up to Boston came on and boy oh boy the dance floor went mad. Us girls got the bikers lined up and started a bit of the ole Irish dancing (riverdance eat your heart out). Big hairy bikers lined up doing irish dancing to Shipping up to Boston was something I will never forget. Absolutely brilliant song. Absolutely brilliant group - checked them out on YouTube when I got home. Come on guys get over here to Ireland. Cead mile Failte.
