She grew up listening to the likes of Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, evident in her powerful songwriting, which began during her school days. By the age of 15, Carter converted her bedroom into a makeshift recording studio and taught herself the piano when she reached Music College.
2018 is set to be the breakout year for the singer, having released her debut EP in May and played the Great Escape festival, too.
