Men at Work were an Australian rock band formed in 1979 and best known for their 1981 hit Down Under. Their founding mainstay was Colin Hay on lead vocals; who formed the group with Jerry Speiser on drums and Ron Strykert on lead guitar. They were joined by Greg Ham on flute, saxophone, and keyboards and John Rees on bass guitar. This line-up achieved national and international success in the early 1980s.
The band's debut album 'Business as Usual' was released in November 1981, and reached the #1 spot in the US, UK, New Zealand and Australia. 'Cargo' came in 1983, and that year they also won a Grammy for Best New Artist. They released their third LP 'Two Hearts' in 1985. Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1994, and they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide. The group disbanded in 1986, reformed in 1996, and had disbanded again by 2002. Greg Ham died in April 2012, but the band still tour. Now in 2019, Colin Hay will bring Men At Work the UK for the first time in over 25 years this summer, with European dates planned too.
