Sage Francis is an American rapper and spoken word artist hailing from Miami, Florida. Born in 1976, hes been involved with rap and spoken word poetry - as well as battle formats like slam poetry - from the mid 90s, though he got his big break after winning an MC battle in 2000 and releasing 9/11-related track Makeshift Patriot the following year, becoming an online hit.
Also the founder of Strange Famous Records, Francis has since released a string of successful albums - including three for punk label Epitaph, making him the first hip-hop artist in their roster - and loads of mixtapes. Francis, however, is best experienced live on stage and is constantly out performing, be it on his own or with acts like Atmosphere and Brother Ali.
