Sinkane, real name Ahmed Gallab is a krautrock, free jazz, funk rock and Sudanese pop English and Sudanese singer-songwriter and musician, now based in the USA.

Starting his music career as a session musician, where he would share a studio with the likes of Caribou, Of Montreal, and Yeasayer, he released his debut album, ‘Sinisterals ‘, in 2007. ‘Color Voice’ followed in 2008, a self-titled album in 2009, ‘Mars’, in 2012 and ‘Mean Love’ in 2014. He released his latest album, ‘Life & Livin’ It’, in February 2017 via City Slang.

“When I heard it, I was completely blown away. It was a distinctive African music that wore these American influences in this really earnest, honest, excited and beautiful way. You could hear James Brown, Funkadelic and Sly Stone. Synthesisers, drum machines and weird cyclical grooves that were kind of like Afrobeat. They had this Caribbean feel - very tropical.”
