Who would have thought it a few weeks ago that a 90's underground rock act would be competing for the UK 2009 Christmas Number One single? Thanks to an Internet campaign on social networking site facebook, which has snowballed in recent weeks to capture the imagination of the nation, it could soon be a reality.
What's more the band have now announced there will be a huge FREE concert to take place next year in the UK to celebrate if they claim victory over the X-Factor winners song. 'Killing In The Name' is currently just 5,000 sales ahead of the X-Factor winners track, with Saturday sales being crucial on the busiest shopping day of the year.
If the unprecedented grassroots movement to topple the X-Factor monopoly is successful in making RATM number one this Sunday, the band will return to UK shores sometime in 2010 for a massive "thank you" gig and Rage Against The Machine have vowed to invite the X-Factor empressario Simon Cowell, to MC the show!

Fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be left stunned today, after reports have emerged that guitarist John Frusciate has quit the band.
The guitar wizard, Frusciate, has been a key man in creating some of the Red Hot Chili Peppers greatest songs, songs that are capable of shifting from funk to metal effortlessly within the blink of an eye. The musician lifted the group to greater heights and played an essential role in what many call, the bands greatest album, the much loved ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’.
