Our Band Of The Week, is a feature designed to promote the wonderful unsigned and indie label talent on offer in the UK right now.
The Hall Of Mirrors are this week's selection. A 7 piece psychedelic pop/French pop group from London, who produce a sound which is very reminiscent of groups such as The Velvet Underground and Jefferson Airplane.
The group offer 60's and 70's style psychedelia with a modern twist, working under their own independent label, the group are currently working on their debut EP, which they expect to release at the back end of the year.
The Hall Of Mirrors are Jessica Spencer, Butchy Davy, Gareth Jones, Kate Reeves, Marianne Eymard and Lucille Chevalier, who combine flowing drum beats, steady bass, gentle guitars, piano and the chilling, stunning vocals from Jessica Spencer, amongst many other accompanying instruments.
Creating quite a stir on the live circuit in London, with people describing their live performances as surreal, ethereal and orchestral. However you describe their sound, it is definitely music which stands out and begs for attention. Dreamy and romantic, with enough pop sensibilities, to make this music broadly appreciated.
Such is the quality of this group that they have been asked to support Eliza Doolittle. Something which has stopped the group from performing any gigs over the next few months, however this is something which will not only gain The Hall Of Mirrors heaps of experience, but will also help to promote this fantastic group.
The group may have only been together since January 2009, but already they are producing material which has the quality of seasoned pros. The production is fantastic and the EP will for sure be an absolute winner, if their already completed material is anything to go by.
The group are unfortunately taking a small break from live performances, simply because the group have been invited to support Eliza Doolittle. Fear not though, The Hall Of Mirrors, will be back on the live circuit before you know it.
