Two members of rock band Guns N' Roses played a surprise gig at a music centre in Oxfordshire yesterday (October 12).
Guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal and drummer Frank Ferrer stopped off at the Witchwood School of Rock in Shipton-under-Wychwood, according to reports from the BBC.
Ferrer declared that it was more unnerving playing for an audience of children rather than for an arena of thousands: "I'm actually more nervous going and talking to the kids than I am playing in front of 20,000 people. Because [on stage] you don't see them. Here you're going to see every little kid's face." He said.
The School of Rock is a unique initiative which puts on workshops and masterclasses for children between the age of six and 18, with the hope of creating a new generation of gifted and motivated musical talent.
The performance was the band’s first in England since their controversial appearances at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals. Lead singer Axl Rose claimed he was at ‘War’ with festival organisers, after his delayed set at Reading had the power pulled due to noise restriction agreements.
Meanwhile, Guns N' Roses are due to embark on a brief UK tour, starting in London tonight (October 13).
Guns N’ Roses will play the following dates:
13 October - London The O2 Arena
14 October - London The O2 Arena
17 October - Birmingham LG Arena
18 October - Manchester MEN Arena
