Usher, Alesha Keys and Canadian singer Drake are the main candidate for this year’s Soul Train Awards. The shortlist for nominees, which was announced earlier this Monday (October 18th) also includes the likes of B.o.B, Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo.
Usher and Alesha Keys (who gave birth to her first child last week) lead the shortlist with four nominations apiece. Usher has been nominated in the ‘Album Of The Year’, ‘Best R&B/ Soul Male Artist’, ‘Song Of The Year’ and ‘Best Dance Performance’ categories
Meanwhile, Alesha Keys is up for ‘Best R&B/Soul Artist Female’, and ‘Record Of The Year’. She will also go head-to-head with Usher in the ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’ categories.
Among those scheduled to perform are R. Kelly, Badu, Monae, Freddie Jackson, and current UK Number One, Cee Lo Green. Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson will reclaim their role as hosts from last year’s ceremony. This year's Legends Awards recipients will be soul veterans Ron Isley and Anita Baker
The 2010 Soul Train Awards are set for November 10 at Atlanta's Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and will air November 28 on major American Network Channels BET and Centric.
