Lady Gaga Postpones French Performances

Lady Gaga has postponed two shows in France due to the ongoing industrial action in the country. The strikes and protests, which have been taking place around the French capital, are linked with a number of key public issues including the current oil shortage and the impending Senate vote on increasing the compulsory national retirement age.

The US singer was due to play two shows at in Paris this evening (October 22nd) and tomorrow night (23rd) as part of her Monster Ball tour. In an online statement, representatives for the ‘Poker Face’ singer declared that the shows would be rescheduled, citing "logistical difficulties" as the primary cause.

It is believed that the protests (which yesterday included a blockade of Marseille’s airport) prevented Gaga’s equipment trucks from travelling to the venue. Lady Gaga will now play the shows on December 19th and 20th this year. Fans are able to request a refund if they are unable to attend these dates.

The situation in France, however, appears to be worsening as students barricaded a Paris high school and protests were planned throughout the country. The Senate yesterday finished an extended debate on a reform that many believe will unfairly punish the working classes of the country.

Lady Gaga is currently in the middle of the latest European leg of her Monster Ball world tour. She is due to perform in the UK this December.
