Taylor Swift Set For Record Breaking Sales Week

Taylor Swift is on track to score the record for the biggest opening sales week this year. The singer, who released her third studio album, ‘Speak now’ on Monday, is reported to have sold between 800,000 and 900,000 copies of the album in America over just a few days.
Industry reports are even suggesting that the album may reach a million copies sold within its first week of sales, a number which would smash this year’s the current record. Eminem currently holds the record, having sold 741,000 copies of his album ‘Relapse’ within its first week.
No album has managed to sell over a million copies in the first week since Lil Wayne’s 2008 release, ‘Tha Carter III’.
The sales projections for ‘Speak Now' are a well-recieved piece of news for American record executives: many major artist releases this year have failed to meet or exceed first-week expectations. Taylor Swift’s last album, ‘Fearless’ managed to debut at Number One with 592,000 sales in November 2008 and has gone on to sell more than 6 million copies to date.
Swift also appeared on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ last night (October 26th) to promote the album to an audience of millions. In an abstract interview, the pop star was given “the most unique compliment” when Letterman told Swift that he though she smelled “like expensive wood”.
