Burn The Fleet - Black Holes (Single Review)

Burn The Fleet are well known for their live shows and their debut EP was released on independent label ‘Walnut Tree Records’, home to the next generation of bands, including Tiger Please, Cuba Cuba and Bayonets. The band themselves are quite an individual mix between metal riffs, experimental and rock anthems.

ImageThis time out sees Good Fortune & Walnut Tree Records collaborating to bring you the band’s new release, ‘Black Holes’. Frontman Andrew Convey says that “Some people live their lives without even stopping for a moment to see who is around them, everyone following trends and blurring into one person.” Clocking in at just over 3 ½ minutes it starts off exactly where their self-titled EP finished.

The song itself is a gorgeous array of short, concise guitar riffs, mixed with the heavy crunch of the chorus.  The bass drives the song along, giving it an almost dance-floor feel.  Convey’s vocals over the top are clear and precise.  The lyrics intelligent, and rhythmic.  The chorus arrives with distortion which is overlayed over the lead guitar, which almost fades to the back.  It’s sure to make your toes tap.  After the necessary repeat of the verse and chorus sections they expand on the chorus into the middle-8.

Having already performed with acts such as Twin Atlantic, Exit Ten & Senses Fail there is no doubt that Burn The Fleet are going to grow and grow, especially with Punktastic, Rock Sound and Kerrang! as fans.
