The Who, Jeff Beck, Debbie Harry and Richrd Ashcroft, some of the UK's most popular acts, are to perform as part of the first concert for “Killing Cancer” on January 13th 2011.
The concet, which is taking place at London's HMV Hammersmith, is being held to raise money for cancer research research into Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), which can destroy cancer cells with a single treatment. PDT uses laser or other light sources, combined with a light sensitive drug (sometimes called a photosesitising agent), to destroy cells and is currently being used to treat head, neck, skin, lung and oesophagus cancer.
Speaking about the charity concert, Jeff Beck had this to say. "Any new breakthrough in cancer treatment should be taken very seriously and we want as many people to know about that as possible.
Other stars joining the bill are The Who, Blondie's Debbie Harry and The Verve's Richard Ashcroft.
Presale tickets for the charity concert are available exclusively from HMV, 150 Oxford Street, London today, and are on general sale from 9am on Friday 19th November.
