Tipped to be the ‘New Blues Pioneer’ of 2011, next year looks to be massive for Stephen Dale Petit. But in the mean time he has set his sights on helping out a small but much loved club, which must surely hold a special place in his heart.
Off the back of hundreds of online raves, plus recent Mojo, Classic Rock, Blues Matters, R2, Blues In Britain, Guitar and Guitarist coverage, as well as three BBC London News, ITV News and Reuter’s News reports AND, of course, the Daily Express and Times very positive pieces coupled with the current Classic Rock cover feature, Top 50 Albums of the Year placing and next Sunday’s Sunday Times Culture feature - all to be followed up by the Mojo Upfront review plus a 5 page Guitar & Bass magazine feature – it's easy to see how much of a spectacular time 41 year old Stephen has had recently, and why he is considered a pioneer of the New Blues genre.
And now the multi-talented musician has focused his power on saving the infamous 100 club.
On the 1st of December, Petit played a charity gig at the 100 Club in an attempt to save the 68-year-old club, which faces closure due to continuing losses. The gig included many special guests, including Ronnie Wood, Mick Taylor, and Chris Barber, with all proceeds going directly to the club.
But, that isn’t all Petit has done in his efforts. He has also decided to donate all the profits from his new single, ‘Need Your Love So Bad’ (an apt name), which is taken from his second album ‘The Crave’, which came out earlier this year. He has even gone to the extent of renaming the single ‘Need Your Love So Bad (Save the 100 Club)’.
No-one wants to see a small, legendary club close wherever you are, so we send our hope and wishes to Stephen Dale Petit and the 100 Club, though with the massive support and 20,000 facebook followers he has, we hope he doesn’t need it.
