Paul McCartney To Give Intimate Performance at London's 100 Club

Sir Paul McCartney is to play his smallest gig for over a decade on Friday, giving an intimate perfromance at London's threatened 100 Club.

Tickets for the show at the historic club on Oxford Street, which has hosted shows by the Sex Pistols, the Clash and The Damned in the 1970s, sold out within seconds as fans scrambled to get a ticket for the low-key show. It will be the first intimate show Macca has played since his gig at the Cavern Club in Liverpool in 1999.

Revealing that he is looking forward to “being able to interact with fans on a face-to-face basis,” as well as “the smelll of sweat and beer”, Paul McCartney promised that he will deliver a “back-to-basics” set for the lunchtime gig that takes place at 12.30pm on Friday 17th December. The show will be witnessed by just 300 lucky fans, each paying £60 for a ticket.

With rent increases, rising VAT and alcohol duty, the performace will be a much-needed boost to for the club that faces closure.
