Lady Gaga Earns Best-Selling Album of 2010

Pop star Lady Gaga has earned the coveted title of being the best-selling artist of 2010. According to German media analysts Media Traffic, the American singer outsold all other artists with her November 2009 effort ‘The Fame Monster’.

The album, which features eight tracks which were originally left out from her hugely successful debut, ‘The Fame’ is said to have sold 5.8 million copies worldwide in 2010. Gaga made no hesitation to show her joy at the accolade, posting on Twitter: "THE FAME MONSTER was named the best-selling album of 2010! I'm so excited for the future, believe + work hard, you will achieve your dreams,"

‘The Fame Monster’ managed to claim the top spot after narrowly beating Eminem, who earned the Number Two position with ‘Recovery’ and Justin Bieber, who earned Number Three with his deluxe release. ‘My Worlds’. Also featuring in the top ten include Susan Boyle, Black Eyed Peas, Michael Buble and Taylor Swift, who recently managed to secure the American Christmas Number One spot on the albums chart.

The top ten selling Albums of 2010:

1. "The Fame Monster" - Lady GaGa (5.8 million)
2. "Recovery" - Eminem (5.7 million)
3. "My Worlds" - Justin Bieber (5.6 million)
4. "Need You Now" - Lady Antebellum (3.6 million)
5. "Speak Now" - Taylor Swift (3.5 million)
6. "The Gift" - Susan Boyle (3.0 million)
7. "The E.N.D." - Black Eyed Peas (3.0 million)
8. "Crazy Love" - Michael Buble (3.0 million)
9. "Soldier of Love" - Sade (2.3 million)
10. "The Element of Freedom" - Alicia Keys (2.3 million)

Meanwhile. Gaga has revealed that she will be making an announcement about her new album, ‘Born This Way’ on New Year’s eve. The singer made a cryptic tweet over the Christmas weekend, declaring: "Merry Christmas little monsters! I love you with all my heart. My gift to you is a BORN THIS WAY announcement Midnight on NEW YEARS EVE."

Although no-one can be sure what the news will be, speculation has hinted at it being the title of the first single or the official release date for the album, which is currently chalked for “some time in early 2011.”
