American punk-pop band Paramore have unveiled a new track on their website, Paramore.net. The band have posted a video showing singer Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York performing a section of a new acoustic track, ‘In The Mourning’.
The four minute video shows the pair joking and discussing the song’s structure before launching into a performance of the unfinished track. The song is unusually restrained for the band, who have become known for their distorted guitar sound and radio-friendly choruses: Paramore have only officially released one acoustic song in the past, a track called ‘Miguided Ghosts’ from their 2009 LP ‘Brand New Eyes’.
The public unveiling of ‘In The Mourning’ is the latest development in an ongoing clash between the current Paramore line-up and ex-members Zac and Josh Farro, who left the band last month in an aggressive fashion, posting an angry online rant as they departed.
The band’s teenage fanbase have been quick to link the new material with the departure, citing the ‘good riddance’ tone of the lyrics as evidence: "Now there's nothing but time that's wasted/And words that have no backbone/Oh the whole world seems to be waiting/Can you hear the echoes fading?"
