Soundgarden To Release First Ever Live Album

Clearly not content with the excitement already caused by their re-formation a little over a year ago as well rumours of a new album, a B side album and a brand new tour, Soundgarden have now confirmed they will be available live in your living room for the first time ever.

The Seattle grunge legends announced their much anticipated reunion on January 1st 2010 after a hiatus of 13 years. Since the announcement the band have kept a fairly low profile with their only full concert being an appearance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in August (there was a ‘secret’ gig under the name ‘Nudedragons’ in Seattle and a few TV appearances). Further live performances have been promised and the band have stated they are working on a new album but this is the first confirmed release so far.

Recorded in 1996 and taking tracks recorded from five venues across North America, ‘Live on I5’ will be released on March 22nd 2011. The collection features 17 tracks and runs through all their hits including the still fresh sounding ‘Black Hole Sun’. The album will also feature covers of The Stooges ‘Search and Destroy’ and a thunderous rendition of The Beatles ‘Helter Skelter’.

If and when a tour to support the rumoured new album is announced, it is sure to be one of the biggest events in the rock live calendar so be sure to keep your eyes on Stereoboard for all the latest updates on where and when you can see Soundgarden live.
