Bruno Mars And Rihanna Top UK Charts

Bruno Mars has entered the UK singles chart at Number One with ‘Grenade’. Mars managed to earn his second UK Number One after knocking Rihanna’s ‘What’s My Name?’ from the top spot. He sold almost 150,000 copies of the single, a feat not achieved in January sales since the release of Babylon Zoo’s ‘Spaceman’ in 1996.

The American singer also managed to hold off Jessie J, who enjoyed another week of resurgent sales with ‘Do It Like A Dude’. The Brit school graduate earned the Number Two spot, helped by a week of media attention after winning the BBC Sound of 2011 Poll and being announced as a Brit Award winner in the ‘Critic’s Choice’ category.

The only other new entry in the singles chart came at Number Ten from JLS and Tinie Tempah with their recent collaboration, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’.

It was a good week for American artists as R&B star Rihanna managed to maintain her place at the top of the UK albums chart. The singer enjoyed her ninth week in the chart, having beaten Take That to the Number One position last week.
