Bruno Mars has been confirmed as the ambassador for this year's Record Store Day.
The annual event will return for its 19th edition on April 18, with the Grammy-winning American pop superstar following last year's ambassador Post Malone to champion the culture of independent record shops and celebrate the people who support them. In a statement posted to the official Record Store Day website, Mars said:
"Independent record stores are so important because you get the chance to immerse and surround yourself with music and that's why I'm so excited to be this year's Record Store Day Ambassador. I love collecting vinyl because nothing is better than sitting on your couch putting on a record and just listening to music like that. It feels like a lost art. To actually sit down, put a record on, and consume it is a very Romantic idea. Go out and support your local independent record store on Record Store Day this year."
As this year's Record Store Day ambassador, Mars will team up with US record stores to celebrate his new album, 'The Romantic', with listening parties confirmed at over 200 locations across the US on February 25, giving fans an exclusive early listen.
Mars will then drop 'The Romantic' worldwide on February 27 via Atlantic Records, before embarking on its accompanying The Romantic Tour, spanning North America, Europe and the UK in spring and summer. Tickets are on sale now.
Mars announced his long-awaited follow-up to 2016's '24K Magic' last month alongside the release of its lead single, I Just Might.
