Bruno Mars Hailed As Best Songwriter Of 2010

Bruno Mars has been named as the best songwriter of 2010, according to industry publication Music Week. 'Smeezingtons’ Songwriting', a team made up of the Bruno Mars (real name Peter Hernandez), Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine came top in the chart compiled by the magazine.
The team were behind a string of top-selling singles last year including ‘Just The Way You Are (Amazing)’, Cee Lo Green’s ‘F**k You’, B.o.B’s ‘Nothin’ On You’ (which featured Mars), Travie McCoy’s ‘Billionaire’ and the World Cup anthem ‘Wavin’ Flag’ (Sung by Mars and K’naan).
EMI-signed Norwegian songwriting duo Stargate placed second on the list after writing for the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna and Alexis Jordan. They were followed by Will.i.am (last year’s winner), who spent the year writing songs for artists including Usher and his own group Black Eyed Peas.
Simon Neil, frontman of Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro was the highest-placing Brit on the group, helped largely by the success of ‘Many of Horror’, renamed ‘When We Collide’ when it was released by X Factor winner Matt Cardle and earned the Christmas Number One. Also placing in the top ten were British rapper Tinie Tempah and rising star Labrinth.
