British rapper Tinie Tempah will join the already extensive line-up for this year’s Isle of Wight festival, it has been announced today.
The ‘Written In The Stars’ songwriter is the latest name to be added to the festival, which will take place from June 10th-12th at Seaclose Park in Newport. Artists already confirmed include headliners Kasabian, Foo Fighters, Kings Of Leon and veteran rock band Pulp.
Although the final bill has not been confirmed yet, other artists booked already include Wild Beasts, The Vaccines, Semi Precious Weapons, The British Pink Floyd Show and Tom Jones. A spokesman for the festival said: "He may be small in stature, but Tinie Tempah is the sound of 2011."
It has been a busy couple of weeks for Tempah, who currently stands at Number Ten in the singles chart with ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ (a collaboration with JLS) and Number Eleven with ‘Invincible’. The rapper was nominated for four BRIT Awards during the week, including nods in the ‘British Male Solo Artist’ and ‘British Breakthrough Act’ Categories. His hit song 'Pass Out' is also up for ‘Best British Single’.
Speaking on the nominations, the rapper showed he clearly wasn’t it go to his head, saying: "Last year I was watching it thinking 'one day...imagine if I could get one', so to be nominated for one is crazy."
