Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger will be making an appearance at this year’s Grammy Awards, playing at the event for the first time in his career.
This comes just a day after the Rolling Stones announced that they will not be touring in the near future.
Jagger will be on stage alongside Raphael Saadiq, where they will pay homage to Solomon Burke, the renowned soul singer, who died last year on October 10th.
He joins a list of acts already confirmed to play at the awards ceremony, including Arcade Fire, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, Muse, and Katy Perry.
The last time Jagger made an appearance at the Grammys was when his band Rolling Stones earned the Lifetime Achievement award, and even then the band performed through a satellite link.
Neil Portnow, president of NARAS (who host the Grammys), announced "We're thrilled, delighted, excited and very much looking forward to Mick doing his debut on the Grammy stage, it's extraordinary to many of us that the fact is, this will be the first time; he has never performed on the Grammy stage."
He will be performing as part of the event’s ‘In Memoriam’ tribute, in which late musicians and artists are acknowledged and honoured.
