American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has expressed his surprise at being nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards. The singer was given a nod in the ‘Best Male Pop Vocal’ category for his song ‘Whataya Want From Me’.
Lambert showed his shock in a recent interview with CBS, declaring: "I was more than surprised. I didn't even know there were nominations coming up! I didn't hear anything about the Grammys; I wasn't thinking about it."
He continued: "I felt amazing. I was like, 'Whaaaat?!' My voice was higher than any song I'd ever sung. To me, it was at the end of a really long, amazing tour. I'd just finished my last show in London, it had been six months on the road - pretty wild - and it just feels like it paid off. It feels great."
Lambert will be up against the likes of Michael Buble, Bruno Mars, John Mayer and a posthumous entry for Michael Jackson at Sunday’s Grammy awards ceremony.
The singer has been touring extensively since the release of his debut album ‘For Your Entertainment’ in 2009. He has a live DVD of the tour, ‘Glam Nation Live’ expected for release on March 22nd.
