Soundgarden Working On New Studio Album

Following the exciting news last month that they would be releasing their first ever live album ('Live on I-5', due out on March 22nd), Seattle grungers Soundgarden have announced they are ready to put together a brand new album.

After a 13 year hiatus, Soundgarden re-formed in January 2010 but have been mostly quiet in the months since then. A handful of live performances, including an appearance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in August apart there have been very few sightings of the band since getting back together but this announcement will ease fears fans may have had that the reunion was doomed to fail.

The posting on the front page of their website reads “Over the past few months, we’ve been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together – exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!

“Loudest of Love,

“Ben, Chris , Kim and Matt“

So far there is no news of a title or release date but it seems fair to expect a tour to launch the album once things get moving. As usual Stereoboard.com will have all the latest news as we get it on both the album and (hopefully!) some UK tour dates.
