Leona Lewis Looking Towards Dubstep For New Release

X Factor winner Leona Lewis is said to be switching the ballads for dubstep beats with her upcoming third album. The singer is looking to reinvent her style both physically and musically for the release, which she is currently recording in America.

According to The Sun, members of the singer’s record label have requested that she steers away from ballads and overly-emotional tracks in place of big beats and dance numbers. A source said: "Simon Cowell’s Syco team have asked songwriters to hand them dubstep and dance tracks with traditional lyrics for the X Factor winner. They've specifically stated no ballads. It's a big change for her."

Speaking on the record ealier this year, Lewis hinted at the possibility of new sounds and collaborations for her third release. She said: “I'd like to work with Will.i.am, he's very talented. I'm still in the early stages of my new record, so I'm having fun with the new sounds."

Lewis is also said to have also recruited Jessie J and Manchester synth duo Hurts to help with songwriting for the record.

Meanwhile, The singer’s 2007 single ‘Bleeding Love’ recently topped a Valentine’s-themed poll as the most played ‘love’ song of recent years. The poll was compiled by airplay royalties body PPL, and identified the Hackey-born singer’s track as the UK’s most played song with the word ‘love’ in the title.

According to the poll, one in 15 British songs which are played on radio airwaves feature the word ‘love’ (or a close variation) in the title.
