AC/DC have confirmed that they are planning to release a live CD/DVD package this spring. The band filmed three large shows at the Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium in December 2009, performing to a sold-out crowd of over 60,000 people each night.
Frontman Brian Johnston seemed excited about the album during an interview with motor racing channel Oversteer TV recently, where he said: “We’ve got a new live album which we shot in Argentina at the end of the last tour, which was about September. The live album comes out, with the video of those concerts, in about six weeks or something. So I’m looking forward to that.”
He continued to assert that the band have no major plans other than the release, and will all likelihood take a small hiatus for rest after the live album. He said: “After [the live release] we haven’t made any plans. We just want to have a rest, because we were on the road for two years. We played in front of five million people, and we deserve a rest.”
Early reports have indicated that the Black Ice Tour live album will be released in mid-April. The album will be AC/DC’s sixth live record during their extensive history, the last of which was released in 1997.
