Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump released his 6-track ‘Truant Wave’ EP on iTunes today, streaming the release in its entirety on his Facebook page. Fans can ‘like’ the page to gain access and listen to the EP.
Following the indefinite hiatus of pop-punk giants Fall Out Boy, Stump is currently in the process of recording his debut solo album ‘Soul Punk’. The singer has offered ‘Truant Wave’ as a taste of his new independent sound, however the EP is a collection of tracks which Stump believes didn’t match the overall tone of his upcoming full-length album.
The singer recently spoke about his new-found freedom as a solo artist in an interview with Rolling Stone. He said: “As far as the comparative visibility of my solo act versus the band, it’s kind of a shame the two have to ever be related...I don’t know that I was ever so comfortable with the way it was, with that level of attention. Particularly because you get this feeling - you don’t want to dumb what you do down...but you don’t want to disappoint anybody, and they have these expectations. Hopefully going out as myself gives me freedom.”
You can listen to two tracks from ‘Truant Wave’ below:
Patrick Stump (feat. Alph-a-Bit) - Porcelian
Patrick Stump - "Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)"
