Glee Releases First Original Songs 'Loser Like Me' & 'Get It Right' - Listen Now

Friday, 25 February 2011 Written by James Conlon

Chances are you’ve heard of 'Glee'. The series has seen unprecedented success in its two-year run, spawning an international arena tour, the presence of several high-profile celebrity guests and has gained millions of fans worldwide. 'Glee' has this week debuted its first ever batch of original songs, due to be performed on the March 15th episode of the series in the US.

Two songs written for the show, ‘Loser Like Me’ and ‘Get It Right’ were premiered this morning (February 25th) on presenter Ryan Seacrest’s website. The former is a bright, pop-fuelled anthem produced by Max Martin (of Britney Spears fame), where the cast celebrate their individuality in true American teenage style.

‘Loser Like Me’:

‘Get It Right’, on the other hand, is a moody ballad fronted by one of the lead cast members Lea Michele (a.k.a. egoistical vocalist Rachel Berry). Pulling in an orchestra for dramatic backing, the song was inspired directly by Berry’s storyline in the show. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, co-writer Adam Anders said: "Lea's storyline kind of inspired that song for me...basically, you try to do everything right and you have good motivations with everything you're doing but everything ends up going wrong."

‘Get It Right’:

‘Loser Like Me’ and ‘Get It Right’ will both appear on ‘Glee: The Music, Volume 5’, which is scheduled for release on March 8th in the UK.
