Jamie T Cleared Of Assault Charges In Court

Wimbledon-based songwriter Jamie T has been cleared of grevious bodily harm after punching a man in a Brixton Pub. The singer appeared at the Old Bailey yesterday (March 3rd), defending charges concerning an incident which occurred in The Windmill pub last May.

The jury decided that Jamie T (real name Jamie Treays) acted in self defence after 39-year-old Giles Curtis dived at him in the live music venue. The fight is said to have taken place after Curties took the singer’s drink from a table and proceeded to pretend he had ownership of it. Judge Giles Forrester said: "The defendant told the man that it was his beer. The man replied, 'No, it's not' with a cheeky grin."

The exchange resulted in a fight which left Curties requiring surgery to treat a double jaw fracture. Jamie T is said to have claimed that he acted out of defence, fearing that Curties was attempting to headbutt him.

According to The Mirror, the ‘Sticks N’ Stones’ singer also told jurors that he aimed for Curties’ head as he was scared and “wanted to make sure” that the instigator fell to the ground.
