Phil Collins Quits Music And Apologises For Success

Phil Collins has claimed that he is turning his back on music, choosing to end his career after over forty years in the public eye. The drummer and frontman went on to issue an extraordinary apology for his success, claiming that he isn’t surprised modern music fans hate him.

In an interview with FHM this week, the former Genesis drummer confirmed that he would no longer release any music and is looking to leave the world of celebrity altogether. He said: "I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn't mean it to happen like that. It's hardly surprising that people grew to hate me."

The 60-year-old singer, who currently resides in Switzerland, went on to state that he regrets becoming a famous musician and feels distanced from the modern music industry. He said: "I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think: 'I can't be in the same business as this'. I don't really belong to that world and I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm much happier to write myself out of the script entirely."

He even joked about a potential way of leaving the limelight: "I'll go on a mysterious biking holiday and never return. That would be a great way to end the story, wouldn't it?"

Collins has encountered various health problems in recent years, suffering from damaged hearing and nerve damage in his hands which makes it almost impossible for him to play the drums.
