Skunk Anansie Added to Download 2011 Line-up

Reformed rockers Skunk Anansie have been confirmed as the latest addition to this year's Download Festival line-up. The band will join other new additions Frank Turner, Puddle of Mudd, The Pretty Reckless, Bowling for Soup and Bring Me the Horizon. Download Festival 2011 will be headlined by Def Leppard, System of a Down and Linkin Park. It will take place at Donington Park on 10th - 12th June.

Skunk Anansie first reformed in 2009 for a reunion tour and, a year later, they released their fourth album 'Wonderlustre', their first in eleven years. The four-piece experienced the height of their success during the '90s, during which time they had two Top 10 albums and a number of hit singles, including 'Weak', 'All I Want' and 'Hedonism'. In 2010, Skunk Anansie coincided the release of 'Wonderlustre' with a hugely successful UK tour and a number of festival appearances including Sonisphere.

In an interview with Stereoboard.com last year, shortly after the release of 'Wonderlustre', drummer Mark Richardson spoke about the band's music: “We sat down and made a conscious choice about who we are now and what we wanted to be. What we did not want to do was try to be the Skunk Anansie of the '90s and try to recapture that. We are all confident, strong-willed people that had the courage to decide to move on and be something new. We don't need to dwell on the past.”
