Adam Ant, Pennywise and The Damned for Blackpool’s Rebellion Festival

Friday, 11 March 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

‘80s rocker Adam Ant and US punk band Pennywise are among the acts on the line-up of this year’s Rebellion Festival, which is due to take place in Winter Gardens, Blackpool on 4th – 7th August. Also confirmed for the 2011 event are The Damned, Glen Matlock and the Philistines, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and The Old Firm Casuals – the new band from Rancid frontman Lars Frederiksen. Also on the bill, oddly enough, are ‘Through the Keyhole’ and pasta sauce man Loyd Grossman’s band The New Forbidden.

Rebellion Festival is an indoor music festival that takes places at a number of venues in Winter Gardens, Blackpool such as the iconic Empress Ballroom. It is one of the UK’s only exclusively punk festivals and features performances from a wide range of artists. This year’s event is no exception and will see appearances from acts as diverse as ‘70s punk band UK Subs and Californian skate-punkers Pennywise.

‘Prince Charming’ singer Adam Ant will be performing at Rebellion to coincide with the release of his new album ‘Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying The Gunner's Daughter’, his first in 16 years. The set will follow his recent shows at the 100 Club in London, which was recently saved from closure.

Former ‘Masterchef’ presenter Loyd Grossman will also be performing at the festival with his band The New Forbidden. Unbeknown to many, pasta sauce man Grossman formed the punk band in the late ‘70s and had a minor hit with ‘Ain’t Doin Nothing’.
