Danish folk singer Agnes Obel has announced details of a new UK tour for April. The dates will be followed by the release of a new Deluxe Edition of her debut album ‘Philharmonics’. The album became a huge success throughout Europe after its release last year, reaching the Top 10 in France and the Netherlands. In Obel’s home country Denmark, ‘Philharmonics’ stayed at Number One for seven weeks after knocking Take That’s ‘Progress’ from the top spot.
Agnes Obel is a singer-songwriter and pianist, who writes classical-inspired folk music. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark but moved to Berlin in Germany five years ago, where she began writing her first album. Obel cites Portishead, Elliot Smith and PJ Harvey among her list of influences.
The new Deluxe Edition of ‘Philharmonics’, which includes a number of additional tracks and some songs that were recorded live, is due for release on 2nd May. The album will be preceded by a number of UK live dates as part of her forthcoming world tour.
