Nicole Scherzinger Ends Adele's Chart Reign

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has knocked Adele from the top of the UK singles chart this week. The American singer put an end to Adele’s four-week domination of both the albums and singles charts by entering in at Number One with ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’.

The ‘X Factor’ guest judge has earned the top spot twice before with the Pussycat Dolls, but this is her first Number One as a solo artist. Other new entries in the singles chart this week are The Wanted, who earn Number Three with their Comic Relief track ‘Gold Forever’, and girl band Parade, who enter in at Number 10 with their debut ‘Louder’.

In terms of albums sales, however, Adele is very much still in control. The singer holds on to the Number One and Number Two spots with her albums ‘21’ and ‘19’.

The highest new entry in the albums chart comes from much-hyped band The Vaccines. The NME favourites earned the Number Four spot in the first week of sales for their debut LP ‘What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?’
