Travis Barker has given a progress update on the upcoming Blink-182 album, claiming that the material is in the same mode as previous releases, but with a new-found “progression”.
Speaking to Gigwise, Barker said: “The sound of the record I think will be kind of the same stuff as past Blink albums, so it won’t be anything that people will be shocked by what we’re writing in the studio at the moment. If I was to disconnect myself from it and kind of take myself out of it and be a fan it feels like songs that have progressed from the last album.”
Barker is also said to have declared that the current album sessions are going “really well”, although when asked about a predicted release date for the LP he said that it was “hard to say”. The drummer claimed earlier this year that the release should be expected for “June or July”, however after his recent statements such a time frame is probably optimistic.
Meanwhile, Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus recently posted lyrics to a new track on the band’s Facebook page. The picture of a tattered A4 sheet is said to be the first draft of lyrics for a new song which Hoppus described as a "fast, Apple Shampoo-ish jam". You can view the lyrics here.
