Emily Eavis, the daughter of Glastonbury festival founder Michael Eavis, has described this year’s festival as a “big finale” for the approaching gap year. Eavis stated that the extensive line-up, which was announced earlier this week, is intended to represent the finest music for both this year and next, when the festival will be taking a scheduled year off.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music , Eavis said: "Subconsciously, you think about the fact there isn't going to be a festival next year, so you try to get as much in as possible that will represent both years. It's like a big finale. By the time we come back, there'll be a lot of music around. This is like the big sing-off."
As well as headliners U2, Coldplay and Beyonce, the festival is set to include a host of top acts including Morrissey, Elbow, Pendulum, Biffy Clyro, Paolo Nutini, and Plan B, all of whom will be appearing on the pyramid stage.
Also signed up to perform are Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers, Queens of the Stone Age, Mumford and Sons, White Lies, Friendly Fires, Kaiser Chiefs, Fleet Foxes and Tinie Tempah.
Tickets for the festival are sold out, however a small amount of returned tickets will be made available tomorrow (April 17th).
