Lady Gaga Calls Madonna Rip-Off Claims ‘Retarded’

Lady Gaga has branded a suggestion that her single ‘Born This Way’ is a rip-off of Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’ as “retarded”.
Speaking to NME, the eccentric singer said: "I'm a songwriter. I've written loads of music. Why would I try to put out a song and think I'm getting one over on everybody? That's retarded. What a completely ridiculous thing to even question me about... If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression.”
She continued: "It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first f**king artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means that I'm f**king smart. Sorry!"
Not content to toot her own horn, Gaga went on to claim that she feels the formulation of ‘Born This Way’ was divinely inspired: "I feel like, honestly, God sent me those lyrics and that melody... There's no way for something that pure to be wrong."
Meanwhile, her declaration that the remarks were “retarded” has provoked criticism from several groups, including Mencap. The UK charity gave a statement to The Sun this morning (April 21st), stating “It's an unfortunate choice of words, particularly from someone so influential.”
